The lateral vestibular nucleus controls the postural muscles of the spine, so by adjusting the upper neck we balance the whole body structure, allowing better biomechanics and function of the lower back. The upper neck controls the postural muscles responsible for pelvic balance. If the pelvis is un-level it can put abnormal stress on the joints of the low back causing inflammation and irritation, which leads to pain.
